In California, diesel cars, pickups and SUVs from model year 1998 and newer that weigh 14,000 lbs or less need a smog check every two years at registration renewal, the same as gas vehicles. Diesels from 1997 and older are exempt.
Heavier diesel trucks over 14,000 lbs are not smog checked. They fall under CARB's Clean Truck Check instead, which we also handle.
Bring your diesel truck or car to Speedy Smog in Temecula and most tests are done in about 30 minutes. If your DMV notice says "Smog Certification Required", we send the result straight to the DMV so you can finish your renewal.
